Day 45
Liam had a good nights sleep last night, it made a big difference not being woken every 2 hours to be poked and proded. We were woken early (well 7.30) so the nurses could take the dressing off his leg to enable the Doctors to have a good look at it. The scar is an absolute beauty, it runs from his knee down the side of his leg to his ankle. The top layer of the dressing was taken off but the bottom layer will come off tomorrow and the drain will also come out. Liam is not looking forward to this one bit! He also had his doppler wires taken out of his chest which were connected to tubes in his artery and vein and when a machine was plugged into him and turned on they could hear the blood pumping through to the tissue site. The tubes inside the vein and artery will stay in there for the rest of his life causing no problems and he sure is going to have some good stories to tell in years to come!
He has begun to eat again although thinks he is going to starve from the yucky hospital food. I must admit the pureed apricots and lamb casserole were not exactly appetising. Matt and Nicky and the kids bought him some chocolate yoghurt and other mushy goodies so that should keep him going for awhile.
A few visitors popped in today including Ashleigh and Grandma. Ashleigh is doing fine without us and is very comfortable with Grandma at home. Grandma has been keeping very busy painting our lounge in between kicking Coco outside for a toilet break. What a great Mum I have!
Liam is tucked up in bed now for an early night after his busy day playing club penguin ALL day on the laptop. He did stop for a couple of breaks to go for a little walk with the Physio, and for his visitors but I think we might have to ration it tomorrow.
With a bit of luck we will be back home to our own beds by the weekend. They certainly won’t hold onto us for longer than necessary so fingers crossed it will be on Friday.
Take care
